About the process
All my knives are hand forged, which makes every knife a unique piece. Once the profile is forged its time for heat-treating, part of the process where the knife gets hardened and gains the toughness and flexibility. Grinding the bavels is a crucial part where we set how the knife will perform in the kitchen. After the blade is finished, it’s time for making a handle which needs to be ergonomic and feel good in your hand. Last but not least we sharpen the knife on wet stones.
My knives are built for those who appreciate both craftsmanship and practicality in the kitchen. Whether you’re a professional chef or a home cook, my knives are made to elevate your cooking experience.
About me
My name is Štěpán Hála. I’m an artist and a blacksmith from Czechia. Currently based in Sweden, where I study at the University of Gothenburg in the Metal Art department. I started being interested in the craft by making my first knife when I was 14 years old. Since then, I have learned how to work with the material mindfully and with respect. Over the time I developed a strong eye for detail and proportions which leads to good looks.
